Exactly how setup works.
Step by step.

Read this before you buy. By the end you'll know exactly what to do with the kit files — where they go, what you fill in, and what your agent looks like when it's working. No coding involved at any point.

Before you start, you need:

OpenClaw installed and running (you already have this)
A text editor — Notepad (Windows), TextEdit (Mac), or anything you like
About 45 minutes
No coding knowledge needed
No terminal/command line needed
No prior experience with .md files
1

Find your OpenClaw workspace folder

OpenClaw works out of a folder on your computer called the workspace. Think of it like a desk — everything your agent needs to know lives in this folder.

To find it: open OpenClaw, go to Settings, and look for "Workspace Path" or "Working Directory." It'll show you a folder path like /Users/yourname/my-agent. That's the folder.

💡 If you're not sure where the folder is — open a file manager (Finder on Mac, File Explorer on Windows) and navigate to the path OpenClaw shows you. It's just a regular folder.

When you open it, it might look mostly empty right now. That's normal. Here's what it will look like after you place the kit files:

Your OpenClaw workspace folder — after setup
my-agent/ ├── SOUL.md ← your agent's personality ├── AGENTS.md ← the rulebook ├── MEMORY.md ← long-term memory ├── TOOLS.md ← what your agent can use ├── SYSTEM_PROMPT.md ← master instructions ├── memory/ ← folder for daily logs │ └── YYYY-MM-DD.md ← agent writes this daily └── secrets/ ← your API keys (already there)
That's it. These are just files sitting in a folder. No installation, no setup scripts. OpenClaw reads them automatically every time your agent starts.

2

Unzip the kit

After purchase you'll download thorin-forge-kit.zip. Double-click it to unzip — your computer will create a folder called thorin-forge-kit with all 7 files inside.

thorin-forge-kit/ (what you get after unzipping)
thorin-forge-kit/ ├── SOUL.md ├── AGENTS.md ├── MEMORY.md ├── TOOLS.md ├── SYSTEM_PROMPT.md ├── DEPLOY.md ← detailed setup guide └── memory/ └── YYYY-MM-DD.md
💡 On Windows: right-click the .zip → "Extract All." On Mac: just double-click it. The folder appears right next to the zip file.

3

Fill in the blanks — takes about 15 minutes

Open each file in your text editor. Every file has [BRACKETED PLACEHOLDERS] — spots where you type your own information. No writing from scratch. You're just replacing the brackets with your details.

Here's what it looks like — before and after:

Before — what you see when you open the file
Name: [AGENT_NAME]
Deployed on: [PLATFORM — e.g. Railway]
Primary channel: [CHANNEL — e.g. Telegram]
After — you just type in the real values
Name: Max
Deployed on: Railway
Primary channel: Telegram

Here's what you'll fill in for each file:

What each file asks you to fill in
SOUL.md → agent name, personality style, platform AGENTS.md → your workspace folder path, trust settings MEMORY.md → your name, timezone, communication prefs TOOLS.md → your workspace path, tools you use SYSTEM_PROMPT.md → pulls from your other files (mostly done) DEPLOY.md → read-only guide, nothing to fill in
💡 Start with SOUL.md — it's the most important and the most fun. Give your agent a name and a personality. Everything else flows from there.

4

Place the files in your workspace

Once you've filled everything in, copy the files from the thorin-forge-kit folder into your OpenClaw workspace folder (the one you found in Step 1).

Select all the files, drag them across. That's it. You're not installing anything — you're just moving text files into a folder.

Copy these into your workspace folder
From: thorin-forge-kit/ To: your-openclaw-workspace/ SOUL.md → drag in ✓ AGENTS.md → drag in ✓ MEMORY.md → drag in ✓ TOOLS.md → drag in ✓ SYSTEM_PROMPT.md → drag in ✓ memory/ → drag the whole folder in ✓ DEPLOY.md — keep this for reference, no need to move it
💡 If your workspace already has a memory/ folder, just copy the YYYY-MM-DD.md template file inside it — don't replace the whole folder.

5

Restart your agent — you're done

Restart your OpenClaw agent (stop it and start it again from the OpenClaw interface). When it comes back up, it will automatically read all the files you just placed.

How do you know it worked? Send your agent a message. It should:

Signs your agent is now working properly
Responds using the name you gave it in SOUL.md Has a consistent tone/personality instead of being generic References your name or preferences from MEMORY.md Creates a new file in memory/ at the end of the session Doesn't start each session from zero anymore
That's the whole setup. No terminal. No code. You filled in some text files and dropped them in a folder. Your agent now has memory, identity, and consistent behavior.

You know exactly what to do.
